INTERNATIONAL COLLOQUIUM 'THE BALKAN HISTORIOGRAPHY AFTER THE COMMUNISM. RESULTS AND PERSPECTIVES'

Колкоквиум Рим 2018On May 22 in the conference room of the Department of Political Science at Roma Tre University, an international colloquium on Balkan historiography after the political changes that took place in the region in 1989 was held. It was organized by the Italian Association for European Southeast Studies (L'Associazione Italiana di Studi del Sud-est Europeo - AISSEE), the Department of Political Science at Roma Tre University, the Institute of Balkan Studies & Centre of Thracology "Prof. Alexander Fol" with the courtesy of the Romanian Academy in Rome.

Eight papers were delivered during the two sessions (please see the program) and discussed by scholars from Albania, Bulgaria, Italy, Romania and Croatia, as well as by attending students from Roma Tre University. During the conference questions about the reinterpretation of the national liberation movements in the Balkans in the post-communist period were addressed, as well as parcelling of the Revival problems, differentiated attitude towards the different confessional communities in the Balkan countries and the impact of this attitude in the latest research. Bulgarian participation in this international forum is the first stage of the work on the Bulgarian-Italian interinstitutional project 'Exchange of Economic, Political and Cultural Ideas and Models between the Balkans and Italy (18-19 century)'.
