On January 23, 2024, at the Central Military Club in Sofia, the Military Historical Commission presented its Annual Awards for 2023. Hosts of the ceremony were Colonel Violina Valeva and actor Rousy Chanev.
The Deputy Chairman of the Military History Commission, Ivan Sapundzhiev, awarded Assoc. Prof. Mariyana Stamova, PhD affiliated with the Institute of Balkan Studies & Centre of Tracology at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences for researching the Balkan military history and bringing together the states and peoples of the region. The commander of the 3rd Brigade Command - Blagoevgrad, Colonel Mitko Baltov, was awarded the honorary title "Commander - guardian of the glorious traditions of the Bulgarian Army". The award for an objective presentation of the history and current state of the Bulgarian Armed Forces was presented to Kiril Valchev, General Director of the BTA. The head of the Military Academy "G. S. Rakovski" Major General Todor Dochev presented the award for contribution to the research and popularization of the history and combat traditions of the Bulgarian Army. The distinction was awarded to Preslav Pancheliev and Dr. Kaloyan Pancheliev. The award for contribution to the study of the national liberation struggles of the Bulgarian people was awarded to Prof. D.Sc. Trendafil Mitev.
Official guests at the ceremony were their excellencies the Ambassador of the Republic of Albania to Bulgaria Enid Milo, the Ambassador of the Republic of North Macedonia Agneza Rusi Popovska, the Defense Attaché of the Republic of Serbia in Sofia Colonel Željko Simić, the President of the European Union of Senior Citizens Prof. Nikolay Andreev and others.
From January 24 to 26, 2024 in the New Conference (Mirror) Hall of the Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski" the international scholarly conference "Transfer and Adaptation: Languages and Cultures in Dialogue (The Balkans from Late Antiquity to Early Modern Times)" will be held. The event is organized by the Institute of Balkan Studies & Centre of Tracology at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and Alexander von Humboldt-Stiftung with the financial support of the Bulgarian National Science Fund, contract No. КП-06-МНФ/21 dated 08/08/2023.

On November 29, 2023, Assist. Prof. Dr. Samuil Kamburov participated in a Scholarly Workshop organized by the Center for Eastern European Studies (CEES) at the University of Zurich (Switzerland). The presentation topic was "Western European Influence on Cold Weapons and Warfare in the Balkans during the Late Middle Ages and Renaissance", which is also part of his research. There were presented individual aspects of the development and changes in warfare in the Balkans during the Late Middle Ages and the Renaissance. The Crusades ushered in a new era of warfare in Europe and the Middle East, which led to significant changes in weaponry reflecting (from the Eastern perspective) the strong Western European influence. During his participation in the CEES scientific event, Dr. Samuil Kamburov also presented part of the initial stage of his research related to the history of the Levant and the region's relations with the Balkans.
The book Impact et réception de la culture française dans les Balkans (XIXe – XXe siècles) / French culture in the Balkans (XIX – XX centuries) – interrelationships and reception has been published. The collective volume is edited by Prof. D.Sc. Raia Zaimova and is the result of the international interdisciplinary conference of the same name, held in Sofia on October 6 and 7, 2022.
The publication is realized with the support of the Embassy of the Republic of France in the Republic of Bulgaria and the French Institute in Bulgaria.
The collective volume "The Balkan Cultures: Dialogue, Transfer, Metamorphoses" brings together authors who work in various scholarly fields - history, theory and history of literature, theater and cinema. The 15 studies included in the book are placed in a wide chronological range from the Middle Ages to the present day. They are dedicated to significant issues related to the dialogue between individual cultures in the Balkans and in European context. Various perspectives have been proposed both to the transfer of cultural models and to the metamorphoses in their perception, assimilation and functioning. The research reveals unknown or understudied sides of cultural dynamics in the region and creates a mosaic image of the diverse Balkans.

On the 27th of November 2023 the book of prof. Yura Konstantinova “Bulgaria and Greece in a Labyrinth of Monologues” (Sofia: IBCT-BAS, 2022) was presented in Athens on the initiative of the Ivan Seliminski Cultural Centre - Greek-Bulgarian Association for Culture and with the support of the Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria, the Hellenic Commission for the Study of Southeastern Europe and the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. The presentation was attended by representatives of several Greek academic institutions, diplomats, members of the Bulgarian community in Athens, prominent Greek public figures, students and pupils of several Bulgarian schools in Greece.
